Social Media Campaign: Peaceful Borders

  • Due to unstable conditions in parts of Central and South America, individuals attempt to journey North in search of the opportunity for more prosperous living conditions. Others cross the border between the United States and Mexico simply for reasons of visitation; however, because of anti-immigrant and/or racist sentiments, many fall victim to injustice on the part of border patrol agents. These law officials often get away with numerous forms of verbal and physical abuse, leaving behind them a trail of unpunished damage done to undeserving human lives.
  • The social media platform that I plan to utilize is Facebook because it reaches a vast audience of youth and adults, provides a space for visual representations of the issue at hand and relevant written information. It can be used to get into direct contact with individuals who are interested in the topic and can be manipulated in numerous ways in order to sufficiently convey the message at hand.
  • I will use visuals that portray injustice towards Latinos/as at the border on the part of law officials in order to provide impactful evidence of daily occurrences that often go overlooked.
  • I will be creating a logo for the campaign that embodies peaceful and humanitarian relations across borders and plan to continually update the Facebook page with new posts and perhaps opportunities to help in order to keep followers engaged in discussion.

  1. make sure that the social media and platform you use are age sensitive, in that they are accessible for both youth and adults. Not every adult uses Facebook so you have to appeal to your targeted audience.
