Pasta and Persian

Hi my nickname is CindyLou.   I’m an ELAC transfer student and this is my second semester at Dominguez hills.  I am a full-time student and employee majoring in Interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in American Studies. My goal is to graduate in Spring 20201.

Since food is such a huge part of our culture and society, I am so excited to be in this class.  I hope to have an opportunity to experience new foods/desserts. I grew up in an Italian household and ate pasta a few times a week. Even though I enjoy eating all kinds of food, for me, pasta is my true comfort food. Especially when topped with the sauce my grandmother made when I was a child.

My food selfie is one that my son took of me on Mother’s Day enjoying my favorite half pistachio and half pomegranate ice cream cup from Mashti Malone’s in Hollywood, California.  This place has the best Persian Ice creams in town.

My favorite food is Tomato Basil Pasta.  Tomato Basil Pasta is a quick and easy sauce made with and your favorite pasta; mine is penne pasta and juicy tomatoes. Perfect for lunch or dinner and ready in just 20 minutes, it’s a delicious meal that the whole family will love.  This sauce is my personal favorite, not only because it reminds me of my grandmother, because it’s super fresh and you don’t use any cream or butter, so you don’t feel guilty about eating everything on plate.

My fondest memories are of my parents taking us for a trips to buy some Thrifty’s ice Cream. Now, having Ice cream to me is very nostalgic, it takes me back to when i was 9 years old. I’m sure your son will remember the most simplest things, like sharing ice cream with you.
