  1. It looks like from your review of the movie Machete that he is the super hero of the Mexican people. He must have some super human powers that he can never die. It also, seem that Machete has something that women must like about him. He is not your average good looking men in the movies that get all the women, but he still manage to attached the sexy ladies in the film. He is not only a playboy, he is the star of the movie. Just like in the first film Machete is also betrayed in this film and is left to die again. In this movie it seems as if Machete is now protecting the United States and the not the Mexican people anymore. Great post!

  2. Rodriguez saw the possibility of financial gain with Machete Kills. As for him being a womenizer aren’t women attracted to a bad boys?. Machete gives Latinos hope as we don’t have an icon. Even though this film is unrealistic, what Latin actor can get away with playing Machete? Enrique Iglesias would be a choice to attract a female cliental, but i would not find it believable. Danny Trejo lives up to his bad boy image and it is what gives him a sense of realism. .I am looking forward to this sequel.

  3. Rodriguez directed this film as well? I’m really not sure what else they could add about Machete that would make a sequel possible. I know the was a political aspect in the first film and the whole issues with Mexican immigration so now there is possibility of a nuclear war and we need on man to stop it?!i think the perspective of the theme has shifted. It seems like it has gone from the white man picking on the poor Mexicans to the super Mexican helping the struggling whit man. While the movie is probably intended for the same audience I think the message is different. I don’t think I would want to see this film I was lost with Sheen and Lady GAGa

  4. According to your review, I understood that he became the hero of the Mexican people. Is this the second part of the film Machete, which was viewed in class? This film is a Mexploitation that stereotypes the Latino community. I don’t like to watch films that portray the women’s bodies as objects and use negative stereotypes to gain an audience. The film is exaggerated and unrealistic from what I understood. I like Danny Trejo as an actor, but most of the time he plays the roles of bad boys or gangsters; except for one film in which he played a baby sitter.
    Great post.

  5. Hello Gerardo,
I understand it is a film and not real life, but those stereotypes can be harmful. As a Latino community, we already have a bad reputation, and I don’t think these types of films help us in any way. Also, we need more films that portray Latinos in a positive way like Real Women Have Curves, Freedom Writers, McFarland, and others that are posted on the blog.
