Evelyn’s Bio

IMG_1893

Hello to all, my name is Evelyn Auroza. I am a leo, I recently turned 21 years old. I grew up in South Central, Los Angeles.  I am currently a senior at CSUDH, my major is Chicana/o Studies, and I will be doing my minor in Women Studies. I am an only child which is often times surprising because coming from a Mexican culture people are expected to have more than one child, however, my parents only had me. I was not spoiled as a child, my parents have always taught me that nothing will be handed to me easily, and that I have to work hard to earn what I want. I am also the first in my family to make it this far and go to CSUDH. Aside from studying I also have a job, I am Front End Supervisor at Ross Dress For Less. It has not been easy managing work and school at the same time, but a women has to do the impossible to succeed. I grew up watching my family play baseball it is a sport that is in our blood. Therefore I enjoy going to baseball game and rooting for the Boys in Blue, The Los Angeles Dodgers. I try to go many games as possible during the season. I am a Dodgers fan whether they lose or win.

  1. Hello Evelyn, I just wanted to say point out that you phrased it so accurately I am surprised I haven’t heard it before; ” a women has to do the impossible to succeed”. That phrases really resonates with me because, managing life is extremely overwhelming. However, I am of the belief that as women we have to gather our strength and keep pushing forward, not just for ourselves but for those around us. I have so many powerful women in my life to thank because I feed off their strength to keep pushing myself to the finish line. Welcome to the class!

  2. Hello Eveyln. I love your picture by the way. I know a few people who are an only child as you in a Latino family, and they also feel weird because Latinos tend to have big families. I also want to applaud you for working and going to school. It is hard. I had the privilege to not work as an undergrad because my parenrs wanted me to focus soley on school. But once I graduated, and I started working and going back to school, I realized how hard it is to balance both. Keep it up! You can do it!

  3. Hi Evelyn,

I am a Leo too- WE ROC! By the way, love that picture! Here we are again in another class together getting them done so we can move on with our academic career. Yes, work and school can be hectic, but keep pushing and pursue all your DREAMS. Good luck in this course, and in all your academic, personal, and career endeavors!

  4. Hi friend!

I have known you since we were four years old and I am so so so happy we crossed paths again in college! You are such a beautiful woman and I learn something from you everyday. I have always admired how in tune you are with our Mexican culture; you are so prideful of it and it is amazing. Working retail and going to school full time can be such a stressful experience but your positive attitude is so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your magic with the world!

  5. Hi, Evelyn

Its funny how you mentioned that you are the only child and according to someones lost copy us Mexicans, Latinos are supposed to have a big family. My family criticize me for having only one child, they keep bugging me about having the next one because she’s going to grow up to be spoil. Although she’s my baby I make sure I teacher her what’s wrong and right and how to share etc..
